Most puppies spend their first year discovering the joy of squeaky toys and muddy paws. But for a 10-month-old Pit Bull named Stinger, life had other plans.

Instead of playtime, his first year became a brutal test of survival.

The nightmare didn’t stop with the stings. Stinger suffered a severe allergic reaction, and when the vets tried to help him with antibiotics, they discovered he was allergic to those too.

His skin began peeling away. He was in agony. And to make matters worse, the trauma left him deaf.

Then came the moment that shattered everyone’s hearts.

His owners brought him to a veterinary clinic in Grand Rapids, Michigan—and walked away.

Whether it was the cost of treatment or the sight of his swollen, raw body, no one knows. What we do know is that Stinger was suddenly alone, scared, and fighting for his life.

Further testing revealed he had Pemphigus—a lifelong autoimmune condition that causes painful skin flare-ups and requires constant medical care.

The treatments would be expensive. The monitoring would be endless.

Carri knew it wouldn’t be fair to place that burden on a typical adopter. So she made the hardest—and most loving—decision of all.

Stinger would stay exactly where he was.
