A Disturbing Discovery in a Field of Debris
Amid piles of broken bricks and scattered metal scraps, a stray dog moved slowly through a dusty junkyard.
At first glance, something about him felt immediately wrong.
His head looked strangely swollen — far larger than it should have been — and he held his neck stiffly, as though even the smallest movement caused pain.
When rescuers moved closer, the reason quickly became clear.
Locked tightly around the dog’s neck was a rigid plastic pipe — the type often used for drainage systems. Somehow, it had become stuck there, forming a harsh ring that had remained trapped for far too long.
Over time, the pipe had pressed deep into the skin, gradually cutting into the flesh beneath.
For this dog, every day with that object around his neck had been a slow and exhausting battle just to survive.
A Hidden Danger That Grew Worse Over Time
Once the rescue team from Saahas For Animals brought the dog back to their care center, the full seriousness of his condition was revealed.
The pipe had tightened so severely that the surrounding skin was badly wounded and infected.
Because the pressure restricted proper blood circulation, fluid had begun accumulating in the dog’s head — causing the dramatic swelling rescuers first noticed.
His body was frail from hunger and fatigue.
Yet despite everything he had endured, the dog remained surprisingly calm, almost as if he sensed that the people around him were there to help.

The dog was gently placed on an examination table while the veterinary team moved quickly to stabilize him.
First, they administered emergency fluids to treat dehydration and weakness. Medication was applied around the injured skin to ease the infection and reduce the intense irritation caused by the pipe.
But one major problem remained.
The pipe itself still had to be removed.
Unfortunately, the plastic was thick and rigid — far too strong to simply pull apart by hand. Removing it safely would require precision and the right tools.
A Delicate Rescue Operation
To free the dog, the team brought out a handheld cutting tool designed specifically for situations like this.
One rescuer carefully operated the device, slowly slicing through the hardened plastic ring.
Meanwhile, other team members gently held the dog steady while shielding the surrounding skin to ensure the cutting blade or sparks wouldn’t cause further injury.
Every movement had to be controlled.
Every second demanded focus.
Finally, after carefully cutting along the pipe’s edge, the rigid plastic began to loosen.
Little by little, the object that had imprisoned the dog for so long was removed.

The First Step Toward Recovery
Although the dog was still weak and clearly in pain, the moment the pipe was freed marked a turning point.
The swelling and deep wounds would still require time, treatment, and patience to heal.
But the greatest threat had finally been eliminated.
For the first time in what was likely a very long time, blood could circulate normally again.
The rescue team continued cleaning and treating the damaged skin, making sure the dog remained calm and comfortable as his recovery began.

A Life That Nearly Slipped Away
No one knows exactly how the pipe ended up trapped around the dog’s neck.
It may have been a terrible accident.
Or it may have been something far more troubling.
But one thing is certain: without the rescuers arriving when they did, the dog would not have survived much longer.
Now, under careful medical supervision, he finally has a real chance to recover.
A chance to live without pain.
And a chance to leave behind the dangerous piece of plastic that once threatened to take his life. 🐾
