When rescuers first spotted him, they honestly weren’t even sure what they were looking at.
He was impossibly tiny.
His fragile body, patchy skin, and unusual appearance made him look less like a dog and more like a tiny baby dinosaur trying to survive on his own.
That’s exactly how he got the name Dino.
But behind the strange appearance was a heartbreaking reality:
this little dog was sick, terrified, and barely hanging on.
Everything about him suggested he had spent far too long struggling alone.
The rescue team at Hope For Paws received a report about a tiny stray dog hiding quietly in a backyard.
When they arrived, they found Dino curled into himself, almost trying to disappear.
He didn’t bark.
He didn’t run.
He just sat there silently, exhausted.
His body was painfully thin.
Most of his fur was missing.
And his irritated skin showed clear signs that something was seriously wrong.
Every movement felt cautious, like he had learned that the world wasn’t always kind.
A Rescue That Required Patience
Dino was incredibly shy.
The second rescuers got close, he froze in fear.
Instead of towering over him, Loreta Frankonyte slowly sat down on the ground, trying to make herself seem less threatening.
Then she gently offered him food.
Little by little…
the tiny dog started moving closer.
Carefully.
Nervously.
But hunger eventually overcame fear.
Even while helping him, rescuers remained cautious because they suspected he could be suffering from mange or another severe skin condition.
But Dino was simply too weak to resist.
Within moments, Loreta gently lifted the tiny dog into her arms.
And for the first time in what was probably a very long time…
Dino was finally safe.

At CARES veterinary hospital, doctors quickly realized how serious Dino’s condition truly was.
He was severely malnourished.
His tiny body had almost no strength left.
Tests confirmed he was suffering from Demodex mange, a painful skin disease responsible for his irritated skin and major fur loss.
But that wasn’t the only problem.
Veterinarians also discovered serious dental issues.
His teeth had grown abnormally crowded inside his tiny mouth, causing him constant discomfort.
And yet, despite everything he had been through, Dino remained gentle with everyone around him.
The veterinary team immediately started treatment.
He received medicated baths for his skin.
Carefully monitored meals to rebuild his strength.
And most importantly…
a warm, safe place to finally rest.
For the first time in ages, the little dog could sleep without fear.
The Tiny Dog Who Slowly Learned Happiness Again
After leaving the hospital, Dino moved into a foster home through Balooja’s Foundation.
That’s where the real transformation began.
Day after day, small changes appeared.
He started eating enthusiastically.
His body slowly became stronger.
And his personality finally began to shine through.
The frightened little dog who once avoided human contact slowly started asking for affection instead.
His tail wagged more often.
His eyes looked brighter.
And the sadness that once covered his face slowly faded away.
Then over the next two months…
Dino changed completely.

A Completely Different Dog
The tiny, fragile dog rescuers once discovered trembling in a backyard was suddenly almost unrecognizable.
His fur grew back soft and healthy.
His energy returned full force.
He became playful, curious, and full of personality.
He ran around the house chasing toys.
Curled up beside the people who loved him.
And even formed an adorable friendship with a Great Dane nearly ten times his size.
Seeing them together somehow made Dino look even tinier—
but also happier than anyone could have imagined during those first heartbreaking moments.
Today, Dino no longer hides from the world.
He no longer suffers alone.
And he no longer looks like the weak, terrified stray dog rescuers first met.
Now he runs confidently through a home filled with warmth, safety, and people who love him exactly as he is.
Dino’s story is proof that even the smallest animals can carry an incredible will to survive.
Because despite being sick, starving, and terrified…
that tiny little dog never stopped fighting.
And thanks to a few compassionate people who refused to walk away, Dino finally received the life every dog deserves:
a life filled with love, comfort, and happiness.
