For most pets, home is meant to be a place of warmth, safety, and affection.

But for a little dog named Murphy, home became a lonely prison hidden away from the world.

Tucked inside a dirty wire crate in a dim hallway, the seven-pound pup had been forgotten for so long that his own fur had transformed into a thick, suffocating shell.
